Welcome to the Official Website of Cheddar Parish Council
This site is designed to give as much information as possible about the Parish Council - where it is, what its responsibilities are and how you can contact us.
CHEDDAR NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN
The Parish Council is in the process of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan for Cheddar with input from all sections of the community which will give Cheddar more influence over future local developments. Once complete it will be a legal document which builders, landowners and Sedgemoor District Council must consider with any development plans.
Following a two day consultation exhibition held in Church House in February nearly 200 questionnaires have been received from members of the public, together with several hundreds from students at The Kings of Wessex Academy. The findings from this survey and comments made at the exhibition will be published as soon as the analysis is complete.
HOUSING NEEDS SURVEY
Cheddar Parish Council is conducting a survey of all households in the parish of Cheddar to find out who might require new accommodation within the next five years, either to rent or to buy. This could be for grown up children leaving the family home, elderly relatives moving into the area, existing residents wanting larger or smaller accommodation to meet changing circumstances, or perhaps for some other reason.
This is a confidential survey which will help the Parish Council in the preparation of Cheddar’s Neighbourhood Plan, which we are currently working hard on. The easiest way to complete the survey is online by clicking the link below, but if you are unable to do so paper forms are available from the clerk on 01934 743217. The deadline for completing the survey is Sunday 6th October.
HANNAH MORE GARDEN
Having been sadly neglected for a number of years the garden is now being restored. Volunteers from the My Cheddar group are in the process of renovating and replanting the garden so that it will once again be a pleasant garden for the enjoyment of the community. Phase 1 has been completed with old tree stumps removed, a new lawn sown and new trees planted.
