ANNUAL PARISH MEETING

7.00pm, Thursday 25th April, Hannah More Cottage

Hannah More Cottage was packed with members of the public together with parish councillors for this year's Annual Parish Meeting.  Chairman Lyn Goodfellow gave an overview of the Council's activities during what has been a busy year.  Around ninety planning applications have been considered, including those for Sainsbury, Tesco and the football club.  A lot of work has been put in on the Neighbourhood Plan and there have been unexpected 'events' to deal with like the Market Cross repair and flooding in the Gorge.

Guest speaker Jeremy Williams from Bristol Water gave a presentation on the proposed second reservoir.  There will be a second stage of public consultation during the summer and the company hopes to submit a planning application by the end of 2013.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS

Each year the Parish Council presents awards to people nominated for their service to the community.  This year there were three recipients:

Terry King for her efforts in retaining a vital bus service from Cheddar to Bristol.

Ron Moulton for his dedication to Cheddar Royal British Legion and for organising the annual Remembrance Day parade.

Mary Laken, a postumous award for her work with young people over many years.

At the Annual Parish Meeting Chairman Lyn Goodfellow presented each award winner with flowers, a special commemorative mug and a certificate.  Mary Laken's daughters Ellen and Hannah received the award on her behalf.
