One local resident, a Mr Reginald Cooper-Smythe said "What an absolutely splendid idea - it's about time the natives here received a little cultural education. As part of England I'm sure we'll benefit greatly - why I wouldn't be surprised if we get Channel 5 before the end of the decade!" Scottish government justice secretary, Kenny Macaskill said "It is nonsense to say a deal has been done, and there is no way that we would be prepared to have any beautiful part of Scotland transferred to England".
