The Logo Story

It was suggested that whilst updating/developing the Hurworth Parish Council web site it would be a good oppotunity to include a Hurworth Parish logo. It was decided to approach Hurworth School Maths and Computing College to organise a competition to this effect.
The task was taken on board by Mr James Keating, Head of Lower School (11-13 year olds). A judging panel was formed comprising Cllrs Gill Hepplewhite, Val Hughes, Peter Foster and Ian Holme. The School and HPC clubbed together to provide a 1st and 2nd prize for the contestants.

1st Prize

Went to Rebecca Stewart who gained inspiration by attempting to portray all the unique features of Hurworth, and also what is good about Hurworth such as the buildings and the countryside, to show Hurworth not just as a village but as a community all together.
Her winning effort can be seen at the top of the page.

Second Prize

Went to Jessica Brown who gained inspiration from a year 7 combined history, geography and religious studies visit to Hurworth. Her image is designed to tell the story of Hurworth from its past to the present by showing the major developments of the village, and of course the future is yet to be written! Hence the blank slides.

Our thanks go to the School and its pupils for the fun, interest and efforts they provided.
