Neighbourhood Highways Team
12 December 2011

Marston is visited by the Neighbourhood Highways Team several times a year.

In order for Marston to get the most our of the team it would be useful if residents could forward any suggestions for work to marstonparishclerk@hotmail.co.uk.

The kind of works undertaken are:

  • Drainage
    • clear leaves and debris from the tops of gully grids and drainage grips
    • clear vegetation at the entrance and exit of culverts under the highway
  • Traffic signs
    • straighten and clean traffic signs and reflecting bollards
    • repain traditional finger posts and mile posts
    • remove tree and hedge growth obscuring traffic signs
  • General maintenance
    • tidy up and strim small grassed areas which are not included in the grass mowing programme
    • control weeds at the rear of footways and around lamp posts and signs
    • cut down grass and weeds at the base of visibility fences at bends and junctions
    • carry out periodic painting of visibility fences
    • carry out sweeping and clearing of debris discharged onto the highway after storms

This is not an exhaustive list so if you have an idea for work to be done please let us know. If the Neighbourhood Highways Team can't help they can usually point us in the direction of someone who can!
