Marton Cross

The Community Council works with the two Ward Councillors on behalf of Marton residents. Residents are invited to attend the six meetings of the Community Council each year. These meetings provide opportunities to debate local issues (such as traffic, antisocial behaviour, improvements to green spaces etc) and to listen to invited speakers. All meetings are minuted (see Minutes Page).

An Executive Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting in May of each year: this committee meets on six occasions through the year and is responsible for the on-going running of the Community Council.

Middlesbrough Council provides a grant which allows the Community Council to administer a “mini-grant scheme”, offering financial assistance to local voluntary groups, and pay for expenses such as room hire, printing and newsletter distribution. Application forms for a grant are available, on request, from the secretary (see Members page).

Applications may be approved either by the Executive Committee or by the Community Council. Detailed accounts are kept and are audited by Middlesbrough Council on an annual basis.
