PERRANPORTH CONTINUES TO BE A FAMILY AND DOG FRIENDLY BEACH.
The Parish Council has decided that some enforceable control of dogs is required on its beach for the high season when there may be as many as ten thousand people there.
They reached this decision after holding a well attended Public meeting and considering the opinions expressed in several hundred letters, e. mails and petitions.
It is confident that the requirement for dogs to be on short leads between 10a.m and 5p.m. at the town end of the beach during July and August will be supported by the majority of parishioners.
The Council is now proceeding to implement its decision which will be through a dual process of education and encouragement, and the appointment of a Beach Officer who will be an authorised officer with powers of enforcement. The council is inviting persons with all perspectives and local business, to join the implementation group and build on the ideas expressed in their letters, for example volunteer dog wardens. Advice about the legal process will be provided by officers of Cornwall Council.
