The Town 2013 Christmas Lights switch-on was held on Friday 29th November.

The event began on the Glade at 5:00pm and the lights were switched on by Tim Healy at 6:30pm.  There were some technical issues with the lights coming on, as the timers were out of sync, however these issues have been resolved and we are pleased to say that the lights are looking good.

At the switch-on event, Mr Disco Man, John Robson provided music and entertainment, alongside carols from Mickley First School and Castle First School Choirs.  Prudhoe Gleemen and the St Mary Magdalene Church Choir raised spirits with some traditional Christmas cheer and the church choir were delighted that Tim Healy was keen to join in.

We are delighted that complimentary drinks and mince pies were donated again by the Co-op and even more delighted that these were served by the leaders of the Prudhoe Community Arts Project and Dragon Tale Theatre Group stalwarts, Caroline and Ian Warburton.

The children enjoyed biscuits donated by Creative Management (school lunch provider at PCHS) and sweets donated by the One-Stop and The Original Factory Shop.

A highlight of the event was the arrival of Santa Clause, this year on his modern sleigh!!!  Santa arrived early and stayed throughout the event and children even got to try out the sleigh.  Thank you very much to the Mid-Tyne Lions for helping to make this happen.

There are photographs of the event below that capture the joy and festive fun that was enjoyed by all, even in the cold!  Thank you very much to Mrs Moira Wooldridge (Community Photographer) for giving us the opportunity to share them.

Thank you to everyone involved and to everyone who came along and helped make the event successful.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
