THE PARISH OF RAVENSHTHORPE

INCLUDING THE HAMLET OF COTON

                       

Ravensthorpe is situated in northwest Northamptonshire, approximately midway between Northampton and Rugby, eight miles northwest of Daventry, and ten miles south of Market Harborough.  The M1 motorway lies six miles to the west and the nearest railway stations are at Long Buckby, Northampton and Rugby.

Towards the end of the nineteenth century (1886-90), Ravensthorpe Reservoir was constructed in a valley to the northeast of the village and this remains the major landscape feature associated with Ravensthorpe today.

The population of the village as at 2006/7 is 656.

Amenities within the village include the Church, a Village Hall, a Playing Field with a Pavilion, a Pocket Park and a Millennium Wood.

Groups and clubs include the Women's Institute, Football Club and two keep Fit sessions.
