REIGHTON AND SPEETON PARISH COUNCIL
Reighton and Speeton Parish Council serves a community of approximately 400 residents. The parish council can have up to nine councillors, none of whom receive any financial allowances for their term in office.
Parish Council Meetings are held either in Reighton village hall or St Leonard's Church Speeton, on the last Monday of the month, except in August and December. Members of the public are welcome to attend and during the public forum can address the councillors and ask questions.
REIGHTON
Reighton is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire. A small village on the Yorkshire Coast, 4 miles wouth of Filey, 6 miles north of Bridlington and 12 miles south of Scarborough. St Peters Church is a Norman church still in regular use today. It stands in what was once the centre of the old village located right on top of the hill.
Reighton Village Hall is used for various activities and is available to hire. Adjacent to the hall is a small playground open to all.
Reighton and Speeton Seats. Whilst walking an exploring our villages you will come across a number of seats in various locations for you to enjoy, take a rest and admire the local surroundings. These seats were all made by Robert (Bob) Taylor, born in 1919 died 1996. He also made the bus shelters.
SPEETON
Speeton is a village in civil parish of Reighton. It lies near the dege of the coastal cliffs midway between Filey and Bridlington. It is North Yorkshire's eastern most settlement, but historically lay in the East Riding of Yorkshire until local government re-organisation in 1974.
Speeton railway station on the Yorkshire Coast Line from Hull to Scarborough served the village until it closed on 05 January 1970.
St Leonard's Church is set in farmland, the church is one of the smallest parish churches in Yorkshire and was erected in the early Norman period, probably on the site of an earlier Saxon church.
The Diary of William Sellers. William Sellers was teh last Sellers to occupy the Woodbine Farm at Speeton. The diary gives fascinating insights into farm life at the start of teh 20th cenury and the effects of WW1 on village communities. The actual diary is in the care of Speeton churchwardens, A C Coleman.

Both villages has a defibrillator, Reighton is located on the outside of Reighton Village Hall and Speeton is sited on Chapel Lane. When you dial 999, the ambulance service will tell you where the nearest defibrillator is located and the code to open the box.
