Have your say during the Democratic Discussion Period which would normally last for half an hour. During this time you may raise any issues which you have within the Parish. This could range from an overgrown foot path , problems with vital services ie. electricity /sewer systems to a planning issue.
If you are not the type of person who can talk openly about a topic then you may also approach a Parish Councillor and on your behalf , and have the matter raised at the next meeting It may also be possible to have it put onto the agenda for open discussion.

SYDLING SUPPORT NETWORK - CORONAVIRUS EPIDEMIC
The Sydling Support Network has been established by members of the Parish Council, Parochial Church Council and other members of the community to co-ordinate and fulfil requests for help from villagers who in the current Coronavirus epidemic are self-isolating, ill, or otherwise unable to access the needs of daily life.

The Dorset Council wide Dog related Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) came into force on the 1 January 2021. During the first month Dorset Council focused on advice and guidance to dog-owners explaining the new rules.
The PSPO places restrictions on dog owners in control of their dogs. These restrictions include clearing up dog fouling and proper disposal of the waste in any open space. On certain land dogs are not allowed on marked sports pitches or enclosed children’s play areas or are required to be on lead, such as in cemeteries, formal gardens etc. There are also dog restrictions on some beaches relating to certain times of the year, the details can be found at the beach locations.
From 1 February if the rules are broken Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) may be issued by enforcement officers. FPNs can be served by post if a witness provides details of the dog owner (such as their address) or their vehicle registration number and are willing to provide a suitable witness statement.
Cllr Jill Haynes, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Customer and Community Services said:
“The PSPO has been made to protect the health of Dorset residents and visitors and is particularly aimed at areas that children and families use.
“It targets times and places that attract families, but leaves a variety of open spaces, countryside and beaches where there aren’t any restrictions.
Sydling St Nicholas Parish Council has received a number of complaints about several areas in the village where Dog Faeces being left on public Highways & Footpaths.
In response to this issue the Parish Council have erected some new signs which are having a positive impact on the worst affected areas. The council is shortly to undertake further Anti-Dog Fouling measures as it is an ongoing problem that needs to be tackled and here’s why.
A) 40% of Dog owners do not take responsibility for cleaning up after their Dog.
B) It is Estimated that 9 Million Dogs produce 1000 Tonnes of Waste Every Day.
C) Just 30g of Dog Poo can contain over 23 million micro organisms of bacteria. That’s twice as much as human faeces!
D) Disease and viruses such as E.Coli and Coccidia can be found in Dog Poo and can also contain worms and their eggs like Toxocara Canis (roundworm).
E) Just one pile of Dog Poo can contain a million roundworm eggs! Which can lead to stomach upsets, throat infections, asthma and in some cases blindness in humans.
Over 100 cases of partial blindness In children are seen every year due to Toxocara Canis eggs found in Dog Poo.
F) Dog Poo left on fields can expose a variety of mammals including Cows & Sheep to a parasitic infection Neosporosis, is found in Dog Poo and is caused by infection with the protozoa Neospora Caninum. Neospora has been found to cause abortions in cattle, sheep and Dogs.
G) Under the Dog Act 1996, it is UK Law to clean up after your dog. On the spot fines can be given between £50- £80 for anyone caught failing to do so. (Varies between Local Authorities. )Refusal to pay the fine, (maximum penalty of £1,000.) may result in prosecution and you could face a court appearance.
Registered blind dog owners are exempt from penalties.
H) Costs to promote Dog Fouling issues within the village, comes out of Your Parish Council Precept and could ultimately affect you as it may increase how much Council Tax you have to pay.
