National Adoption Week – Start your Adventure
National Adoption Week, 5-11 November 2012, is all about raising awareness and encouraging more people to consider adopting a child or sibling group of children.
Adoptions in Somerset have doubled in the last year but more parents are needed for children in care, particularly for children over five, sibling groups of children and children with disabilities. Finding parents for these children is sometimes difficult and the children can stay in care for a long time.
Jayne and Anthony adopted a little boy called Kean from Somerset after seeing him on ITV’s ‘This Morning’. Jayne said: “Way back in November 2010, like most people who are at home in the morning, I was watching ‘This Morning’ and it was National Adoption Week.
“My eyes teared up, these children who had been through so much in their lives, were asking for a forever mum and dad.
“One little boy called out to me and this little boy has now become our SON!!!
“I urge people to think about adoption. You may be starting out your family or you may feel like your family is complete. There could be a child who is waiting for you to be their forever mum and dad.”
