Walton In Bloom
The 2014 judging has happened,
all gardens that can be seen from the road are automatically included and after a very hot and dry Summer the results are:
Most unusual garden:
First : Number 1 Blackthorn Way - for the beautiful & immaculate topiary
Runner up: 7 Meadow Lane - for a very neat display of unusual plants on a rockery
The Best Hanging Baskets:
First: 57 Main Street - for a beautiful display of three well balanced & colourful baskets
Runner up: 32 Main Street - for two very pretty baskets that worked well with the immaculate garden borders
First: 32 Hempitts - The vibrant colour of this garden gave it a wow factor
Runner up: 40 Main Street - a very colourful & varied collection of well maintained small pots
First: 14 Badgers Green - This garden combines colourful and varied planting with both a height & depth of display. There are also smaller features that provide interest and well maintained trees. - overall a winner.
Runner up: 26 Hempitts - Pretty in pink - well thought out display
Honourable mention: This goes to 152 Main Street - This property fronts directly onto the main road & has no front garden. The back garden with its splash of vibrant colour with contrasting high & low planting, was spotted from the junction with Whitley Road, it certainly caught the eye of the judges.
The hot and dry weather has obviously caused some displays to finish early however there were some close contenders for most of the categories and several second looks were required - Congratulations are awarded to all of the gardeners in the village who help make Walton a prettier place than it otherwise would be.
It is hoped to have photographs of these gardens on the website soon.
