Temporary closure for Street Recycling Centre
Essential improvements at Street Recycling Centre in Farm Lane mean it will be closed for three days in December, with several other sites – Castle Cary, Cheddar, Dulcote, Highbridge and Somerton – among those suggested as alternatives.
It will be shut from Monday 1 December to Wednesday 3 December for drainage works, and will reopen - after the site’s usual Thursday-Friday closure – on Saturday 6 December at 8am.
During the temporary closure, these are the nearest alternative recycling sites and their opening times.

From Monday 8 December Street Recycling Centre will be among 10 recycling sites offering paid-for services to accept trade recycling and refuse, and vehicle parts.
In addition to on-site signage warning about the closure at Street Recycling Centre itself, parish and district councils have been alerted.
For information on recycling sites, including locations and opening hours, contact Somerset Direct on 0845 3459188 or visit: www.somersetwaste.gov.uk.
Somerset Waste Partnership and sites company Viridor have emphasised that during the temporary closure, Street Recycling Centre will remain fully protected by security cameras. Waste should not be left outside the gates as this may result in prosecution for fly-tipping.
