THE POLICE ARE appealing for information after a burglary at a bank in Castle Cary.

Barclays Bank on Woodcock Street was targeted at approximately 3am yesterday (22/12).

A gang cut through window bars in an attempt to gain entry to the bank while they also tampered with the ATM machine.

They were disturbed and subsequently fled. They were not successful in their attempts.

One of the cars used in the offence, a Mercedes, was then seen to drive the wrong way up Woodcock Street out of Castle Cary.

The Mercedes and another car also used in the incident, a silver or grey Audi A3, were then seen to travel through Wanstrow towards Frome.

As part of police investigations they're appealing to any hotels, campsites or bed and breakfasts who may have had a group of men from Liverpool driving high powered cars staying with them since 15 December.

Anyone else with information, or who witnessed the incident, is also urged to contact the police on 101 quoting crime reference number 5215068320.
