The Parish Matters magazine is delivered in paper format through your door as we can no longer provide it in email format. This might seem like a step backwards but the advertisers were not keen on the email delivery format and the reduction in costs we gained by email delivery compared to paper delivery would have been swallowed up by the loss in advertising revenue, without which there wouldn't be a magazine at all. In light of this, we made the decision to go back to full paper delivery. If you don't receive a copy, please let us know. Refer to the "Library" section for previous issues of the magazine.
The village hall is desperately looking for new members to fill several positions. If you'd like to help, please contact us here.
Don't forget to make use of the shop in Arncott. Village shops are dying out as they struggle to compete against the supermarkets. Use it or lose it! There are loads of offers available there and as Tom once said to me, "If you can't find it, ask me and I'll find it. If I haven't got it, I'll get it". Can't say fairer than that!! If you want to contact the shop, then call 01869 388223 and speak to them. Here is their hygiene rating from the Scores on the Doors website in case you were wondering.
05 September 2018Village Art Project
The village has been given a grant for an art project. We have decided that we would like to make the art installation functional rather than something to look at. We have decided that we would like a new bench in the village at the top of the playing field. An artist, Will Glanfield, has been commissioned to make it but he would like you ideas so he can incorporate them into the design. There will be a design workshop on Saturday the 15th September 2018 at 2.30pm in the hall. We would love to have people of all age groups bring along one or more design. The idea is that Will can take them away with him and take aspects of some or all of the designs and incorporate them into the finished bench. This is a way for you to have your work immortalised into the village for all to see. There will be free tea, coffee and cakes.
