About the New Hospital

The state of the art NHS hospital for the local community was officially opened by Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex on 9th June 2014 (as reported in the Bridgwater Mercury of 10th June). Located on Bower Lane it opened to patients on April 30th 2014. An Open Day preview had been held on 5th April for local residents.  (A report on the open day appeared in the Bridgwater Mercury of 8th April.)

The new Bridgwater Hospital includes the new Waverley in-patient ward, the Mary Stanley Midwife-led Unit and a nurse-run minor injuries unit (MIU).

Occupational therapy, physiotherapy and podiatry will also be available along with X-ray and ultrasound services, an out-patients’ department and a new endoscopy unit.

Also on the site will be a range of day care services providing treatment closer to home and helping avoid admission to hospital.
