Community Hall, Access, Charges & Concessions, Kings Down Pavilion Trust.

NEW PAVILION FOR PARISH NOW OPEN

The brand new community pavilion on Kings Drive opened its doors to local residents for the first time on Saturday 8th November 2014 with fun features for all the family and the chance to have their say in how it will be used.

A bouncy castle, information on Pilates, Zumba, Jazzercise, Karate and music-with-mummy classes, refreshments and cakes and the chance to watch a local derby football match were enjoyed by local people and people from local firms who dropped in and looked round the pavilion on its first open day - Saturday, 8th November 2014. Full details of events at the Pavilion are displayed in the window by the front door.

The Pavilion was handed over by developers, Hallam Land to Sedgemoor District Council on 15th October 2014. It is sited next to the new primary school that opened for its first pupils on 2nd September. The Pavilion hall and kitchen are equipped and ready for use. The Pavilion provides a village hall space for the whole parish (and beyond) and changing rooms for the new sports pitches surrounding it.

COMMUNITY HALL

This brand new, purpose-built pavilion has a main hall 12 metres by 8 metres - big enough for meetings of 100 or more people seated or 80 or more at tables.  There is a welcoming reception area, a car park and the kitchen area has a service hatch to the hall.

The hall looks out through French windows onto playing fields and is available for parties, exhibitions, health and fitness classes, sales events, meetings, lectures and social events. To make a booking please use the booking form or contact the facilities managers.

Also in the building, but with separate access are state-of-the-art changing facilities for four teams (e.g. of footballers) and their officials.

Road access from Bridgwater Bath Road, Bristol Road and the M5 via J23 is excellent and it is not far from Bridgwater railway and bus stations; the area is served by several bus services.

CHARGES & CONCESSIONS

Residents of Bridgwater Without Parish receive better, concessionary, hire rates than people from outside Please see the fully competitive tariff of charges.

TRUST SUPPORTS PAVILION

Local people formed the Kings Down Pavilion Trust to raise funds so that the hall could be used for even more activities and to provide a core of local people to support its activities.

Now it is up and running the pavilion is entering an exciting new phase of its development as a focal asset for the community.  This has brought the need to attract more trustees to strengthen the present group and make it more diverse.
