09 November 2019PIT TUB UNVEILED

LYNEMOUTH PARISH COUNCIL has decided to add a little colour to the scene and will unveil a refurbished former colliery (pit) tub next to the 'Lynemouth' sign at the entrance to the village on land adjacent to Wellway Medical Surgery, Albion Terrace, for use as a flower planter. A short informal ceremony will take place shortly after the Remembrance Sunday service and parade on Sunday 10th November 2019, sometime after 11.00 a.m. A plaque will be presented by Mr. Ken Johnson, BSc, MSc, Mining Surveyor, who kindly donated the pit tub as a reminder of the village's coal mining history.
