TREES FOR THE COMMUNITY

THE WOODLAND TRUST wants to make sure everybody in the UK has the chance to plant a tree so they are giving away hundreds of thousands of FREE trees to communities. The Parish Council's trees (420 saplings) are on their way and delivery is expected between 2nd and 20th November mainly for the strip of wild woodland behind the pit wheel, to establish food and shelter for wildlife and create a living legacy for future generations, and possibly along Barron's Walk at Lynemouth Dene. The species are: hawthorn, rowan, blackthorn, silver birch, hazel, common oak. The Parish Council has enough space on council owned land to plant this number of trees with some assistance from the local community (all ages). The free tree packs have been generously funded by lead partners Sainsbury's, players of the People's Postcode Lottery, Lloyds Bank, Ovo Energy, Joules, Bank of Scotland, and Sofology.
