Northumberland County Council's Senior Engineer (Structures) has written to advise that the proposed works* at Lynemouth East Road and Rail Bridge are due start on Monday 12th March 2018. The road will be closed while works are carried out. The road closure is expected to be in place for five days, between the hours of 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.

*Concrete testing to Lynemouth East Road and Rail Bridge which is situated on the C110 road between Lynemouth and Cresswell. Test results will be used in order to inform a repair and refurbishment scheme for the bridge. In order to arrange access to the external elevations of the bridge, an underbridge unit will be utilised; this comprises a lorry mounted access platform which will need to be sited on the road over the bridge. Due to the restricted width between bridge parapets, the road will need to be closed to vehicles during this operation. They will endeavour to maintain access for pedestrians and cyclists, although at times they may be asked to wait until they can be escorted through the works area.
