Tregew Meadow Development Community Meeting

Good news on housing in Mylor Parish

We are very pleased to say that the development of truly affordable houses for the Parish has taken a further step forward. A pre-application has been made on behalf of Cornwall Council to build 13 homes on the Tregew Meadow site in Flushing.

A pre-application is the first step in a process to see if the outline proposal to build homes on this site, would in principle, be accepted by Cornwall Council's Planning Department.

This outline proposal is for a range of homes from 1 bedroom flats to 3 bedroom houses however the numbers of each will be open to discussion through community engagement meetings. These will be organised by the Parish Council with the help of Cornwall Council.  In these times of Coronavirus regulations, these may have to be held virtually however we would like to reassure residents that everyone will have the opportunity to comment on the proposals.

All of this will depend on the Pre-application being approved and we remain hopeful of a positive reaction. Due to the timings of writing this and publication, it may well be that by the time you read this, the necessary approval will have been granted.

This is the first part of a development programme for the Parish as outlined in the NDP’s recent Regulation 14 Consultation document. This stated the need for circa 12 homes in Flushing and circa 18 homes in Mylor. We remain hopeful of delivering the homes for Mylor in the not too distant future.

We are also conscious of various rumours, circulating in the Parish, relating to large housing developments being planned for Mylor. We would like to take this opportunity to state categorically that these are incorrect. The numbers we are working to are clearly stated in the NDP and repeated here.

Through the pages of The Magazine, the PC website, and other suitable media, we will be working to keep everyone up to date on the progress of these exciting developments, with the opportunity for local residents to have your say on the final outcome.

As the first part to this, there will be a meeting on Monday 7 December to provide the opportunity to discuss the development with the Parish Council and Sam Irving, Head of Housing Delivery & Development, Cornwall Council. This will be via zoom and all are welcome to attend. Details will be posted on our website and notice boards.
