The Heritage Lottery Fund is funding Ground Works North East to deliver the ‘Tees Rediscovered Project’.

One strand of this project is to deliver and promote heritage crafts to communities along the River Tees.

Neasham will be benefitting from this funding in the very near future.

The project will fund a professional Textile Artist, Lone Helliwell to deliver 6 half day sessions in the Reading Room in conjuction with the Preston Park museum, including materials and the hire of the hall.

Here are some snippets to show what Lone does:

It is likely to be one Saturday morning per month for 6 months – dates are being finalised and is likely to start in the next couple of months.

The idea is that Lone will guide and teach you in perhaps some new textiles crafts, making something you can take home and also be exhibited.

Sophie Lund from the Preston Park museum will also be on hand to help guide the group and give ideas on how the group can be self-sustaining and continue after the 6 months, perhaps with further funding.

Watch this space for further news about when the project will start and how you can join in.
