Correspondence from Australia!

Please find attached a photo I thought you may be interested in putting on the Neasham website?

Based on the title of the photo it depicts children from Neasham about to celebrate Guy Fawkes day in 1911. The photo has been handed down through my family. My great-grandfather Robert Bird was the gamekeeper for the Sockburn Estate from late 1890's until 1915 when he and his family emigrated to Australia. From at least the early 1900's he and my great-grandmother Eliza lived in Liberty Lodge near Neasham. They had three children, Walter b.1902), Doris (b.1904) and my Grandfather Harry (b.1906).

Walter died in infancy and was buried in the Girsby churchyard. We presume Doris and Harry went to school in Neasham and that they are two of the children in the photo although we can't positively identify them.

Hope you like it!
