  • Aug 2019 - Church Street Wadenhoe grit bin reinstated at the bottom of Oaklee Close; this was removed by NCC Highways 6 months ago in a cost cutting exercise as under their points system it was considered not required; we have convinced them that it does still qualify under their points system; it is back!!!
  • Aug 2019 - Temporary closure order for all access, except farmers, started on 29th August for the bottom end of the MC17 Aldwincle byway. This is due to the dangerous state of the rutted surface for walkers and horse riders caused by 4WDs in wet weather. Grid references show the closure to be from where Aldwincle's Cross Lane meets the byway, south to the Lowick Road bottom entrance of the byway. The upper stretch running from Cross Lane north to Tom Toms Corner is not included in the closure. However Lowick Road gate & post are still not repaired so bottom access still not shut, though signs on gate should be heeded. From NCC Highways FixMyStreet 3/9/19: "The gates have been locked on numerous occasions by the Rights of Way Officer, although the post and gate are damaged they are still lockable. Landowners that have access rights along this byway unfortunately are leaving the gates open. We are in the process of contacting all surrounding landowners to ensure the gates remain locked throughout the period of the closure."

  • Apr 2019 - Road edge breaking away to steep drop into hedge at Pilton side of Lilford bridges traffic lights; inadequate edge repair with tarmac undertaken as another bit is breaking away now; while there, Highways improved the reflective bollards here; Highways also inadequately patched the edge at one point further up towards Pilton where A605 diverted traffic has badly damaged the road edge, but didn't improve the bollards here, where the ditch is being compromised due to diverted traffic plus broadband works.
  • Mar 2019 - Improved signage requested for Bearshanks x-roads approach from Pilton after another report of a driver not noticing the half height single Give Way sign and driving straight onto the Aldwincle road without realising; after investigating, Highways said “Site visited, defects do not currently meet acc investigatory levels, will continue to monitor through highway safety inspections, thank you. State changed to: Closed”; there was a collision accident here in 2014 due to this very problem; so persisted with request; about 20th May, left hand Give Way post was given a taller post, and another Give Way sign was added on right at junction!
  • Jan 2019 - reported flytip on Aldwincle road at Lyveden footpath(cleared next day); reported Lyveden footpath signs at bottom of pole at church track on Aldwincle road(repaired next day); reported state of byway MC17 at Lowick end due to being left open in this close season, despite being warned last July the gatepost was knocked down(apparently it was repaired last November & has been knocked down again; it will be repaired again).

  • Jun 2017 - New 'Stop' position white lining at Pilton side of Lilford bridges traffic lights following surface dressing doesn't allow wide enough passage for large vehicles from Lilford direction now; request put in to make it as it was before. [Actioned 11th July 2017]
