Herbert Morehen

Herbert Morehen was born on March 6, 1898, in Wadenhoe, Northamptonshire to Annie Mary Culpin, age 33, and Joseph Henry Morehen, age 34. He had two brothers and eight sisters. His mother died when he was 8. He lived in Wadenhoe in the 1901 and 1911 censuses.

On 31st August 1914 he enlisted in the 7th Service Bn. of The Leicestershire Regmt (Service No.12928) based at Market Bosworth. He said he was 19 yrs old........he was actually only 16.

Herbert Morehen died on September 17, 1915, in Bienvillers, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, when he was 17 years old. He died just 9 days before his ten years older brother Albert of the Essex Regmt in the same area of France.

He has a grave, Grave 1 A 59, Bienvillers Military Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

He is remembered on Market Bosworth War Memorial in Leicestershire.

He is also remembered on Wadenhoe's War Memorials.
