Stanton-under-Bardon is a small village located in rural Leicestershire but only 1 mile away from junction 22 of the M1. With a population of around 1,000 people, the village benefits from a local convenience shop, two churches, a public house and a primary school.

The name Stanton originates from the Latin ‘stan’ meaning stone and ‘tun’ meaning village. The name reflects the fact that, for the last two centuries at least, quarries have existed in the area and have provided a ongoing source of employment. Today, two major companies still quarry extensively in close proximity to the village.

The Parish Council forms the lowest tier of local government and has responsibility for delivering a number of local public services to Stanton under Bardon residents including the village hall, the war memorial, the large recreational area behind the primary school and the two large allotment sites at either end of the village. The Council also represents the views and concerns of local residents to other public bodies such as Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Leicestershire County Council and the Leicestershire Police & Crime Commissioner.

The Parish Council offices are situated in the village hall off St John Cole Crescent. The Council comprises of 5 local Councillors who are elected to represent the Parish. Councillors are residents who live locally and who are passionate about making Stanton under Bardon a great place to live.
