16 people tore themselves away from their TV sets to further the interests of the village by having their say at the annual assembly. We are grateful for their commitment and thank them for their contributions on subjects ranging from the perenniel (traffic! traffic! traffic!) to the less common (state of the cemetery). The meeting was told the fight to restore peace to the village continues through CAPEG (CA Parish Environment Group), with an important 'summit' meeting coming up soon. And something will be done to tidy up the cremation area of the cemetery.
It was a really lively and interesting meeting with good contributions from the Black Horse publican, the council chairman and the chairman of CAPEG, as well as spontaneous offerings from the attendees. We didn't all agree with each other, but the chairman kept good order and there was a friendly, co-operative spirit abroad which was good to see.
Perhaps you'll come along next May? See you in 2019.
I'm sure more residents would attend these assemblies if they realised the democratic opportunities they offer.

Many years ago we had many,many happy holidays visiting during the summer.
This was when it was a “proper village” I remember going to St Denys Church one Easter Time and singing Holy, holy, holy..........such a shame there are so few services there now.
What was the playground across from grandma’s is now been developed. Happy days, gone forever
