Welcome to Shipton-by-Beningbrough!

The Annual Parish Meeting - also known as the Annual Meeting of the Parish and as the Annual Parish Assembly - this year will be different from pre-covid meetings as it will be held outside and only essential items will be included. The Annual Parish Meeting is the meeting where the parish council report to its electorate on what it has accomplished in the preceding year. The Annual Parish Meeting is a separate meeting from the Parish Council Annual Meeting (which has already been held this year). The Annual Parish Meeting should be a relatively informal event for the community whereas the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council is a formal council meeting.

The annual parish meeting must be held between 1st March and the 1st June (inclusive) each year on a date decided by the Parish Council. The Annual Parish Meeting may not start earlier than 6:00pm.

There will be an opportunity for the public and press to express their opinions on what the council are doing during the meeting.

This year the Annual Parish Meeting will be held OUTSIDE due to Covid restrictions, in the Community Centre car park at 7pm.  If you attend please bring your own chair if you wish to be seated, and be prepared for any weather.

20 April 2021Annual Meeting

Please note - the next meeting of the Parish Council will be the Annual Meeting.  This will be held virtually earlier in the month than normal, on the 5th May. This is due to the fact that Parish Councils will not longer be legally able to hold Parish Council meetings virtually after the 7th May.

Starting in June, meetings will be held in person in the large room of the Community Centre at 7.30pm.  If anyone would like to discuss this please contact the Clerk at shiptonparishcouncil@outlook.com.

It is with great sadness that Shipton Parish Council joins the nation in mourning the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh (1921 – 2021).

There will be a gun salute taking place at 12:00 BST on Saturday to honour the Duke in Museum Gardens. Other gun salutes across the nation will be televised at 12:00 BST.

There are many books of condolences that have been opened across the world and, for social distancing, there is an online version. https://www.royal.uk/
