Welcome to the website of Wall Parish Council serving the village of Wall, and the hamlets of Chesterfield, Hilton, Muckley Corner (part) Aldershaw (part) and Pipe Hill (part).
Wall is situated near Lichfield in the county of Staffordshire and sits alongside the A5 Watling Street, Roman road.
Wall Roman Site
The community of Wall goes back to Roman times when the Roman army set up a staging post and later a more significant presence in the area. Part of the remains of this are still present to this day and the site is available to view free of charge every day (except Christmas Day) from dawn to dusk. The site is owned by the National Trust and is a Scheduled Monument under the care of English Heritage.
There is also a small site museum, staffed by National Trust volunteers, which contains artefacts from the area. The Museum is open between 11:00am and 4:00pm on the last weekend of each month and on certain bank holidays between March to October inclusive.
The Parish Council
The Parish Council consists of seven locally-elected representatives and usually meets six times a year in the Village Hall. The Parish Council is supported by two Lichfield District Councillors and one Staffordshire County Councillor.
