PARISH COUNCIL AGREES TO FREEZE THE PARISH PRECEPT

Whessoe Parish Council agreed at its meeting on the 25th November, 2013 that the Parish Precept would remain at £4,400 for the 2014-15 financial year.

In his report, Parish Clerk , Alan Macnab, stated that last year the Parish Council had taken the very difficult decision to increase the Parish Precept from £2,200 to £4,400  to compensate for the loss of the Parish Grant of £2,900,  to cover the increased utility and insurance costs on the Parish Hall and the uncertainty over grant aid to replace the floor in the Parish Hall.

He described the current finances of the Parish Council as ‘stable and recovering’ which had resulted from the increase in the precept, grant aid which had been secured from the Big Lottery to for replace the defective floor in the Parish Hall which had resulted in the hall reopening for bookings and the continuing hard work by Parish Councillors to reduce expenditure.
