Parish Council says no to a Community Governance Review

Since August this year the Parish Council has been made aware that Darlington Borough Council is proposing to carry out a Community Governance Review of some parishes in the Borough, including Whessoe.

This has been triggered by the new Borough Council ward boundaries for Darlington Borough Council.

A community governance review enables the principal council to review and then put in place or make changes to community governance systems and structures. For example, this could be done by creating, merging, abolishing or changing parish or town council arrangements in the review area.

Darlington Borough Council wrote to the Parish Council asking for its views on whether a Community Governance Review of the Parish should be carried out or not.  The Parish Council considered all the information which was made available to it and decided that there was no need for a Review to be carried out in the Parish.
