Seasonings greetings - The PC is worth its salt

by The Clerk - 14:23 on 10 November 2013

The Parish Council has a long memory. Last winter saw salt stocks seriously depleted and refills were hard to come by. In readiness for the Big Freeze, the Council has ordered 10 extra 25kg bags of salt. This will probably guarantee the warmest winter since records began (when was that?), but if it gets slippy underfoot, we're ready. Anybody got a very large cruet set?

Re bit about salt for the winter. Can't resist recalling the winter of 1947(I was 6)when we had to dig ourselves out of Paddock Cottage and my Dad walked on top of snow covered hedgerows to get to work. The snow stayed for ages and the only salt we had was cooking salt!!!

I was 11 in 1947 and remember Tim and I walked on the top of the hedges,I lived in Woodbine Cottage and live 50 yds from there now.
