(Memorial) Village Hall.
At the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 11th February, the outgoing chairman and committee were warmly thanked by the large turnout for their work in recent years and for the improvements visible in the decor and facilities.
A new committee was elected and the details can be seen on the Village Hall tab on the Parish Council website. The new chairman is Bill Bentley, a long term supporter of the village hall.
Also discussed was the name of the hall. Is it the Memorial Village Hall or just the Village Hall. Well, it’s original name at the time it was handed to the village was the War Memorial Hall. A new legal management and ownership document in 1962 registered it simply as the village hall. In some people’s hearts it will always be the memorial hall. In the eyes of the law and the land recistry it is the village hall.
