Remembrance

The town has a strong tradition of honouring the fallen heroes of past military conflicts, and attendance at recent annual ceremonies of Remembrance demonstrates this, with roads in the town centre closed for the passage of the parade, and the parish church full to capacity for the ecumenical service which follows. The sounding of the Last Post and Reveille outside the Lych Gate at St Mary Magdalene are central to the solemn event, as it was at this point that Prudhoe’s volunteers assembled and were blessed prior to their departure to the Front in the First World War.
