Prudhoe's Light-Up to Christmas

Prudhoe Christmas Lights switch-on and the Spetchells Centre Christmas Fair were held on Friday 28th November 2014.

The Spetchells Centre Christmas Fair began at 3pm and showcased gifts and goodies from local community groups and crafters.  There was an opportunity to browse stalls on the first floor as well as enjoy the Prudhoe Castle First School Choir, Face-Painting by Julie Charlton, and Origami by our well known local expert, James Dobson, on the library floor.  Santa Claus also visited, and a tasty hog-roast was cooking outside.

The event on the Glade began at 5:00pm and led up to the Christmas Lights being switched on at 6:15pm.  Children and parents alike were delighted to welcome Queen Elsa and Olaf, from the Musical Masterpiece that is FROZEN to switch on the lights.  We were also delighted that the children of Mickley First School were able to sing again this year, including the favourite  ‘Let it Go’.  By the time Santa Claus arrived, everyone was in very high spirits and the fabulous lights in Prudhoe were a spetacular finalie.

And if the above was not enough to get everyone into the festive spirit and warm hearts and minds, local champions of the arts, Caroline and Ian Warburton from Dragontale Theatre Company and Prudhoe Community Arts Project served complimentary mulled wine and mince pies and Prudhoe Parents Group to were able to provide Christmas Crafts for the chiuldren.

Christmas in Prudhoe has definitely begun.  Please enjoy the pictures below, kindly supplied by Community Photographer Mrs Moira Wooldridge.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
