Welcome to the Official Website of

Wedmore Parish Council

Wedmore is the principal village on the Isle

of Wedmore, a ridge of higher land rising

out of the Somerset Levels. It is four miles

from Cheddar and the Mendips; and eight

miles from Wells and Glastonbury.

Wedmore has been a settlement since early times; recent discoveries have unearthed remains of the Bronze and Iron Ages. Several Roman sites have also been found, and in Saxon times Wedmore belonged to the Kings of Wessex.

The village has several pubs and restaurants together with a Post Office, village store, delicatessan, chemist and fashion shops.  There are also gift shops, hairdressers, butcher, fishmonger and many more retail outlets.

The Council office in Grants Lane is normally open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

NEXT MEETING  -  Wednesday 16th June 2021 at Wedmore Village Hall. It is suggested that if members of the public wish to raise any issues they put them in writing as attendance at the meeting will be strictly limited.

The Village Stores, Fishmonger, Butcher and all other shops selling food are currently open for business.  Check out the Wedmore Coronavirus page on Facebook or the Isle of Wedmore webpage
