Welcome to West Witton, and to the online home of our Parish Council.

Here's where you'll find all sorts of useful information about our wonderful village and the work of the Parish Council.

West Witton is in the heart of Wensleydale, 4 miles west of the historic market town of Leyburn on the A684. The West Witton parish also encompasses the small village of Swinithwaite, home to Swinithwaite Hall and Estate.

The Parish Council is the tier of Local Government closest to the people and is a corporate body, a legal entity. There are twelve council seats, currently with four occupied, with council elections taking place every four years. The next tier of Government for West Witton is York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

The Parish Council is an elected body that plays a vital part in representing the interests of the communities it serves, through improvements within the local environment and the well-being of its parishioners.

Parish Council meetings are held 3-4 times a year at 7 pm at West Witton Village Hall. The public is welcome to meetings or alternatively please contact the Parish Council via the Clerk to raise any issues, concerns, or ideas for village-wide projects.
