Welcome to Belsay Parish Council
Parish Council Meetings
Belsay Parish Council meetings usually take place on the last Wednesday of every January, March, May, September, and November (subject to change) and are held at 7.00pm in the Sir Stephen Middleton Memorial Hall, Belsay, NE20 0ET. Details can be found under the heading 'NEXT MEETING'.
Members of the public are invited to speak and raise issues of concern. The agenda for these meetings and the minutes of the previous meeting can be found under the heading 'DOCUMENT LIBRARY' and published on the notice board at Belsay Post Office Shop the week before the meeting.
Annual Parish Meeting of Belsay
The Local Government Act states that every parish must hold an annual parish meeting between 1 March and 1 June and proceedings must not begin before 6pm. The Agenda is standard to give a report on the business of the last twelve months.
The Belsay Annual Parish Meeting is held in May. It is not a Parish Council Meeting and it is therefore not conducted in the same way or governed by the same rules as the parish council meeting. The Chair (or if absent Vice Chair) must preside and gives a report on the Parish Council's activities over the last year. There may be a report from the County Councillor or other local representatives and groups too. Parishioners can ask questions and make statements about local matters during the meeting and can pass resolutions, although they do not bind the Parish Council.
