12 May 2019Ray Windfarm - Open meeting 6 June at Kirkwhelpington
The Ray Wind Farm, operated by Vattenfall, sits on the Ray Estate in Northumberland. It comprises 16 turbines generating 54.4 megawatts of electricity to the National Grid annually and will continue to do so for the next 25 years – the life of the Wind Farm.
For every year of its working life, Vattenfall will donate money to the rural communities that fall within the 10km catchment area of the Wind Farm i.e. ‘the Area of Benefit’, which includes your parish. The annual figure donated is £5,000 per megawatt of generated output, index-linked, for the life of the Wind Farm – more than £250,000 per year.
The funds are administered by the Ray Windfarm Fund Community Interest Company (CIC) and to ensure that we distribute these funds appropriately we meet with members of the local communities to determine where and how the funds should be targeted. To this end our first public meeting will be held on Thursday 6th June 2019 at Kirkwhelpington Memorial Hall at 7pm. This meeting is open to the general public.

16 April 2019Out of Town Musuem (Baliffgate Musuem) launch 27 April
I am writing to invite you to the launch event for OOT project on Saturday 27 April in the Jubilee Institute in Rothbury from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.
As you already know, Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery in Alnwick has recently been awarded a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant for the Out of Town Museum (OOT) project based in Coquetdale. OOT will focus on routes, journeys and travelling by collecting and recording memories and stories told in local voices. Photographs, audio recordings, documents and other artefacts will be gathered together for a touring exhibition celebrating the rural heritage around Coquetdale.
The launch event will have lots of information about OOT and activities to get all ages involved. People will be able to see what we have done so far and have a go at recording their memories and stories.
I look forward to meeting you on Saturday 27th April or in the very near future.
· Rag rugging – demonstration of this traditional process and have a go
· Record your memories and stories and hear who we have already talked to
· Butter making – try out your butter making skills
· Vintage bus trip up the valley – booking essential
· When everybody didn’t have a car – have a go on our old bike, how long would it take you to get to ………?
· Find out more about the churches, schools and pubs, past and present
· Guess the artefact – some weird and wonderful items, can you guess what they are?
· Bring your words – we are collecting words as well as voices, can you tell us what they mean? Do you remember what your granny used to say - can you add words to our collection?
· Take a look around Harbottle Castle model
· Refreshments available – scones and cakes donated by Rothbury Town Bakery
With best wishes
