- Forms of nomination for Parish Elections may be obtained from Clerks to Parish Councils or Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 1EE from the Returning Officer who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.

QUEEN ELIZABTH II HAS DIED
21 April 1926 - 8 September 2022
Kenninghall Parish Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
"The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
A ten day period of mourning will commence on the 9th day of September 2022.
There will be a book of condolence for parishioners to sign in St Mary’s Church from Saturday 10th September.
You will also be able to add your condolences to the official royal website www.royal.uk in due course.
All village events and activities should be cancelled during the 10 days of public mourning.

A vacancy for a community governor has arisen as we expand the Kenninghall Local Governing Body (LGB).
We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and responsive candidate to join the team.
A governor’s role is voluntary, can be challenging but is ultimately rewarding
You will be a community governor appointed by the Enrich Learning Trust, of which the school is part of. so being motivated and approachable is essential.
The role requires working alongside other governors – Staff, parent and Community/Trust appointed governors to support, and question school policies including safeguarding, health & safety, equality and anti-bullying, the curriculum, key data, Key Performance Indicators etc. You are expected to attend LGB meetings of which there are 5 throughout the school year, usually in the evening each lasting about two hours.
All governors must have a DBS check in line with our safeguarding policy and all have to undertake a training induction before starting as a governor. There are bespoke professional development opportunities with a lot of the training now carried out online, via Microsoft Teams.

Norfolk County Council is creating a new free Art Trail across Norfolk and will be commissioning artists to create one placemaking outdoor art installation within each district across Norfolk - linked by a 250-mile walking/cycling trail for you to come and visit.
There are two versions of the survey – one version aimed at adults and the other at young people.

Tuesday 31 March 2020 - note regarding the KPC meetings
Dear Parishioners
Following the prime minister's announcement last week, Kenninghall Parish Council feel that it is extremely important that we all follow the new rules on staying at home and away from others. This guidance impacts on all of us; it is essential that we all follow these rules to slow the pandemic and to support our NHS.
We have been asked by government to stop holding any physical meetings or gatherings during this time and this includes our monthly parish council meetings including the annual parish meeting normally held in May each year. Therefore we have no alternative but to cancel the parish council meetings in April and May. The government is working on legislation that will allow our parish council meetings to be held remotely and to make decisions without the need for physically meeting. This will be introduced soon, and so we encourage you to be patient.
In the meantime we will continue to work and will be taking any urgent decisions we need to by email. If there are any matters you want to raise with the parish council please contact one of the councillors (details are available on our website and the noticeboard) or email the parish clerk at kpcparishclerk@outlook.com and we promise we will respond to you.
We appreciate that this is not ideal BUT exceptional times called for exceptional measures.

23 March 2020 - Covid-19 lockdown
In a TV address to the nation, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the country is going into a lockdown. What does this mean for our village? And how long is this likely to last?
- No public gatherings of more than two people unless these are members of the same household.
- No leaving your property except for very limited purposes (shopping for food, exercise (limited to once daily), medical purposes and providing care for someone vulnerable).
- If you can work from home, do so, if not only the most necessary travel to work.
With these measures we can get on top of the spread of the virus and all being well can start a recovery in around three weeks when these rules may be relaxed providing we all heed them.
This means a lot of the forthcoming village activities and events will likely be cancelled or postponed.

PRESS RELEASE:
Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire have been selected as pilot locations for a new project aimed at supporting RAF veterans who face loneliness and isolation.
The RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF’s leading welfare charity, is launching a Community Engagement Worker scheme to help older RAF veterans get involved in their local communities. The scheme comes in response to research carried out by the Fund which highlighted these challenges as issues which most concern the older generation of RAF veterans.
Pete Ashcroft, Welfare Projects Manager at the RAF Benevolent Fund, said: “The Community Engagement Worker project is just one measure we have introduced to tackle the issue of loneliness and social isolation among older veterans. Other new initiatives include telephone friendship groups and group wellbeing breaks.
This year marks the RAF Benevolent Fund’s centenary and we are asking the public to help us reach out to the members of the RAF Family who may have fallen off the radar and let them know, we are here to help. We want to ensure every RAF veteran, no matter how long they served, including National Service, receives the support their service to their country deserves. We want to get these people back onto the radar, and we aim to almost double the number of people we help – from 53,000 to at least 100,000 over the next three years”.
The Community Engagement Workers will get to know the social activities, groups and associations across the four counties and work with individuals to understand what the barriers are to them becoming more socially engaged and help them to overcome that, from attending a veterans’ breakfast meeting with someone for the first time, to establishing activities where none currently exist.
Matt Rowe, of Peterbough, will be taking on the Cambridgeshire Community Engagement Worker role. His career in the Royal Air Force means he knows the service well.
He said: “It has always been deeply humbling, the sacrifices that those who fought before us made and coming from an RAF family I have some insight into that.
“This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and I feel like I’m part of the RAF family again. Success in this job is going to be very different for each person. This is about individuals and what they need to feel part of the RAF Family, and the wider community again.”
The pilot scheme will run for two years.

11 November 2018 - ADVERTISEMENT FOR KPC CLERK
Parish Clerk & Responsible Finance Officer
The Parish Council are seeking a new Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer (or Locum) to begin in January 2019. The paid post is for an average of FIVE hours a week which includes attendance at Parish Council meetings. The post is home-based and the hours are flexible with the exception of council meetings (held between 7.30 pm and 9 pm on the first Tuesday of every month except August). The Parish Council is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with good interpersonal, verbal, written and IT skills; ideally with some experience in a similar role but not essential. IT equipment will be provided. Salary is in accordance with National Pay Scales.
The main tasks will include:-
- To arrange, publicise and attend Parish Council meetings, including the Annual Parish Meeting.
- To prepare agendas and minute meetings.
- To liaise with district and county councillors, other organisations, official bodies and the public as required (face-to-face and by email, phone and post).
- To manage the Parish Council finances, prepare accounts for internal and external audit and produce an annual budget.
- To keep Councillors informed of any relevant correspondence received between meetings.
- To keep up to date with changes in relevant regulations and legislation and advise the Parish Councillors of such changes.
- To carry out any other duties as directed by and agreed with the Councillors.

"You may have seen the forecast of unsettled weather over the next few days with heavy rain and lightning affecting parts of the East and South East of England.
"We are currently monitoring the weather closely and we are in regular contact with the Met Office as the forecast develops.

Where this happens we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. 02 March 2018 - News from Breckland District Council
Bin collections
While the offices will reopen today, the council’s waste collection service will remain suspended until Monday. This is due to safety concerns for collection vehicles and staff negotiating roads and paths.
Residents have been advised to leave uncollected rubbish bins out as normal and we will collect them as soon as we can, from Monday 5 March and over the subsequent days (weather permitting).
Similarly, recycling bins should be brought out on its usual collection day and left until it has been collected. We will collect all bins as soon as we can.
To enable us to catch up with general waste and recycling collections, garden waste collections are suspended until the week beginning 12th march.
We will contact customers to rearrange Bulky Waste Collections.
Leisure centres
Due to the ongoing weather conditions, leisure centre opening hours and activities may be affected. Homelessness
Our Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP) Protocol remains in place and we are offering emergency housing support to any rough-sleepers in the district, to help them get off the streets and into emergency temporary accommodation.
Emergency support can be accessed by calling our main switchboard number: 01362 656870. Latest available figures indicate a total of 12 people have been provided emergency accommodation.

There is a vacancy for ONE Parish Councillor to serve on the Kenninghall Parish Council.
Unless within 14 days of the date of this notice (not inc weekends, bank holidays), ten electors for Kenninghall (named on the Electoral Register) have requested to hold an election, the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co‑option as soon as practicable.

Kenninghall has been allocated 15 dwellings, on the land off Powell Close owned by Breckland. Breckland's 'local development plan' document sets out local planning policies applying to the District and includes details of Kenninghall’s housing allocation for the period to 2036. Please see 'Breckland Local Plan' under the Parish Documents, left, for the letter sent to residents of School Close and Powell Close in September 2017 and how to make a representation should you have any queries, questions or concerns.

Kenninghall Parish Council marks the Queen's 90th birthday with a gift to the children
To mark the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II the Parish Council decided to offer each child attending Kenninghall Primary School and Kenninghall Pre-school a memento in the form of a gold medallion struck especiallly to mark the event. On 6 May Steve Gordon, Chairman of the Parish Councill, attended the School's assembly and after a short speech handed a number of medallions out to the children who done particularly well over the past week. Following assembly all the other children received their medallions in their classrooms before heading home.

Kenninghall Neighbourhood Development Plan(NDP) Consultation Kicks Off
After a period of preparation the consultation exercise on the NDP within the parish has now commenced. For all those living in the village or owning property in the village there is the opportunity to contribute your views through the Kenninghall Questionnaire. For all those working or running businesses in the village there is an additional NDP Business Questionnaire. All village residents should have received a paper copy of both documents with their copy of the April Parish Magazine. For those who did not pdf copies of both questionnaires are available for download from the Parish Documents section of this web-site. Indications as to where copies can be returned are in the documents.

After years of planning, fund-raising and above all, patience, work has finally begun on building a new Village Hall for Kenninghall. Hard to believe perhaps but here below are two photos taken of a 'close encounter' with a small mountain of earth that has appeared on the site as the contractors clear it in order to begin work. Will we be celebrating the completion in 5 months time on 2016's longest day? Let's hope so!
