Carlton Town Water
The water provided to the residents of Carlton Town is via a private water supply. This is managed by the Parish Council and funded via the council tax precept paid by each property of which there are around 100 in the village.
The water originates from the peat moor at the top of the village where it goes through a treatment plant. The water supply is checked each day by the water committee and samples are taken by North Yorkshire Council twice yearly to check the standard. The water analysis reports can be found below.
The Parish Council is responsible for all repairs on the main supply pipe, and the householder for any leaks that occur from the join with the main supply pipe and along the service pipe to their property. Residents may wish to consider insurance to cover this eventuality. As the water supply is from a natural source it can be affected by the vagaries of the Dales climate, causing staining of the water, every measure has been taken to reduce this problem. Should you have any problems/questions regarding your water supply please contact any of the Councillors or the Parish Clerk.
Carol Little, North Yorkshire Council, 01748 901172 is also available to answer any questions with regard to the water supply.
