£5 Compost Bins for Warwickshire Residents

The Warwickshire Waste Partnership would like to see more people composting at home and offering the compost bins for £5 is a great incentive but it is important that residents know how to compost before starting.

Cllr Jeff Clarke, Chair of Warwickshire Waste Partnership said  "Composting food and garden waste at home is a great way to reduce the amount of compostable waste sent to landfill and makes savings.  It also gives the home owner a great free soil conditioner."

Increasing amounts of food and garden waste are found in Warwickshire's grey wheelie bins which cost £80 a tonne for the County to dispose of and £40 when disposed of in the green bin.  But home compost costs nothing in disposal costs and provides a fantastic soil conditioner.  Each compost bin used to its full potential will divert 150kg per year saving the tax payer £12 for every year it is used.

Whether you are new to composting or just need a few hints and tips the workshops are there to help you.

Bookings can be made online by visiting www.warwickshire.gov.uk/composting, email waste@warwickshire.gov.uk or call Waste Management on 01926 418088.  A payment of £5 is required upon collection of the compost bin from your local Household Waste Recycing Centre at the site office (except Judkins, Nuneaton).
