Proposed Temporary Road Closures and a Proposed Temporary One Way Prohibition – Paula Radcliffe Way, Clapham, and Clapham Road, Bedford
There will be temporary road closures and a temporary one way prohibition at the above locations to facilitate carriageway resurfacing work. Details are listed in the schedule below.
The alternative routes for diverted traffic are as shown below and will be signed accordingly. The restrictions are to be in operation only when the necessary signs are erected on site. The Legal Order will be made to cover a four month period; however, it is anticipated that the closures and prohibition will be in operation between 2000hrs and 0600hrs on 15 weeknights from Monday 20th July 2015 to the morning of Saturday 8th August 2015 – Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time.
Roads: Paula Radcliffe Way, Clapham, and Clapham Road, Bedford.

Lengths Affected By Road Closures:
Paula Radcliffe Way, Clapham (the A6) – Between Clapham Road, Bedford, and the southbound exit slip that leads to Oakley Road, Clapham.
Clapham Road, Bedford (the A6) – Between the roundabout adjoining Manton Lane and Paula Radcliffe Way, Clapham.
Clapham Road, Bedford – Between the northbound lay-by which starts outside 4 Franklin Cottages and Paula Radcliffe Way, Clapham.
Length Affected By One Way Prohibition:
Paula Radcliffe Way, Clapham (the A6) – Prohibits vehicles joining the main A6 southbound via the southbound exit/entry slip road which leads to and from Oakley Road, Clapham.
Dates: The closures and prohibition are anticipated to be in operation between 2000hrs and 0600hrs on 15 weeknights from Monday 20th July 2015 to the morning of Saturday 8th August 2015 – Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time – Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
Alternative Routes – The A6: Proceed in a north-easterly direction along Manton Lane and then Brickhill Drive to Kimbolton Road (the B660). Turn left and continue to the next roundabout. Take the 2nd exit and continue along the B660 to Thurleigh Road, Ravensden. Turn left and continue along Thurleigh Road and then Mill Road, Thurleigh, to Milton Road. Turn left and continue to Thurleigh Road, Sharnbrook. Turn right and continue to the roundabout adjoining the A6. Take the 1st exit and continue along the A6 to site, and vice versa.
Alternative Routes – Clapham Road, Bedford: Proceed in a northerly direction along Clapham Road, Bedford, and continue through Clapham to Oakley Road, Clapham. Turn left and continue to the roundabout. Take the 1st exit and continue to the roundabout on the other side of the A6. Take the 3rd exit, join the A6 northbound and then follow the main A6 alternative route as appropriate, and vice versa.
Please Note: Access to Sainsbury’s on Clapham Road, Bedford (the A6), will be maintained for cars while the closures and prohibition are in operation.
