WHAT WILL THE WELFARE REFORM MEAN TO YOU?

The government has made significant changes to the welfare and benefit systems.  These modifications will affect local people. To explain what the changes will mean to people of working-age with a physical disability, Bedford Borough Council is hosting an awareness session on Thursday 6th March, from 10.30 – 12.30, at St. Andrew’s Parish Church, in Kimbolton Road, Bedford.

Members of the Joint Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment Partnership Board are working together to provide this event. The Citizens Advice Bureau is delivering the session, and POhWER are providing advocacy support.

The session will go into detail on the impact the changes may have on an individual’s circumstances. Advice will include; information on the changes from Disability Livability Allowance, (DLA), to Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Employment Support Allowance (ESA), Universal Credit, Changes to Housing Benefit, Changes to Council Tax and the Benefit Cap.
