The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours annually on the first Sunday in June in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.
Street Party/Small Event organisers will be required to complete a simple application form and submit it to the Bedford Borough Council’s ‘Highways’ section to apply for a road closure, and ‘Highways’ will have the final say on any proposed closure.
The final day that ‘Big Lunch’ road closure applications will be accepted will be Friday 23rd May 2014. This is to ensure that the Borough Council has a definitive list of closures a week prior to the event so that the emergency services & waste services etc. can plan accordingly.
