ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL

(OAKLEY: FOOTPATH NO A1 AND CLAPHAM FOOTPATH NO 16)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2014

Notice is hereby given that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the lengths of Oakley: Footpath No A1 and Clapham: Footpath No 16 which extend from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0127 5383 (Map point A) east across Hartops Railway Bridge off Station Road, then southerly to OS GR TL 0164 5334 (Map point B) at Parish Boundary, continuing southerly to OS GR TL 0198 5294 (Map point C).

This temporary closure is required to enable a new bridge to be built over the Midland Railway line.

The closure is expected to take place from Monday 21st July 2014 to Friday 5th December 2014.

The alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation will be:

Proceed from OS GR TL 0198 5294 (Map point C) west along Oakley Road to the junction with Station Road at OS GR TL 0134 5303 (Map point D), continue north along Station Road to OS GR TL 0127 5383 (Map point A).

The proposed Order will come into operation on 21st July 2014 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the footpath have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
