Cold callers, calling themselves “ROOFING SOLUTIONS of Wellingborough” have been targeting elderly and vulnerable people in the area. In particular, they have been active in Bedford Borough over the last few weeks and have successfully managed to dupe at least two residents.
They are known to drive a white van, with a roof rack for ladders, and are handing out flyers to residents before claiming their roof tiles need fixing urgently.
Cllr Sarah-Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Community and Regulatory Services at Bedford Borough Council, said: “There is no crime more despicable than those who target vulnerable people. We are gathering and sharing intelligence on the individuals responsible with the intention to pursue justice, however, in the meantime we urge residents to be vigilant.”
If anyone from this company contacts a vulnerable family member, or neighbour, please ensure they do not agree to any work and contact your local Trading Standards Officers or the Police.
