Honorary Almoner required
The Trustees are seeking a replacement for our Almoner who is about to retire. The Municipal Charities is a collection of ancient charities. The Charity tries to help people who are in need by making grants of money or purchasing goods. We usually get recommendations from Social Services or Bedford Charities but sometimes have “self-referrals”.
This is a part-time role and the main duties of the post include reacting and responding to requests and recording information as it arises. The time required for the role is variable but on average will be about 7 hours a week.
Knowledge of the benefits system is an advantage, as is working with the elderly and young children. The role requires the successful applicant to have access to a computer, printer and a second telephone.
