Thursday 13th April. Anthropology with Katie Mccraith.

Katie Mccraith is studying Anthropology at the University of Kent. Anthropology is the study of human biological, physiological characteristics and their evolution as well as societies.

The focus of this talk will be what we can learn from skeletal remain. We will look at how to estimate age and sex of skeletal remains, as well as analysing skeletal diseases.

 

Thursday 11th May.  Saxon Pottery

We will explore the influences and changes on local pottery with the arrival of the Saxons and see how ceramics develop in the Medieval period. 

   

Thursday 8th June. Medieval to Early modern Pottery

Using the pottery in our own collections we will investigate the transition from the Medieval period to the dawn of the Industrial world.

 

Thursday 13th July. Rituals and Beliefs

Using finds from excavations in and around Bedford we will try to understand the rituals and beliefs held by people from the Prehistoric to modern day.

Archaeology Walking Tour – Bedford, South of the River
